Beyonce Witchcraft Allegations

After reading Colleen's blog post regarding allegations of witchcraft made against Taylor Swift, I dove into articles about more celebrities who have experienced similar allegations. Some names like Stevie Nicks were unsurprising, purely based on the kinds of music they create. Stevie Nicks sings songs about crystal visions and cats, typically while wearing black flowy clothing. One of Fleetwood Mac's most famous songs "Silver Springs" even features the lyric "Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me".  One case I did find surprising however was the criminal case brought against Beyoncé involving alleged witchcraft.

Kimberly Thompson, one of Beyoncé's former drummers, asked the courts for a restraining order against Beyoncé because she was involved in "dark magic" and "magic spells of sexual molestation". While the specific type of witchcraft is never mentioned, Thompson accused Beyoncé of using witchcraft to control her finances and covertly survey her. Other even more extreme complaints included that Beyoncé had placed magic spells on Thompson's lovers and was responsible for the murder of her pet kitten.

This is not the first time a conspiracy about Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, has made waves in the media. For many years, Illuminati conspiracy theorists have believed them to be the reigning "king and queen" of the Illuminati organization. Beyoncé addressed this in her song "Formation" with the lyrics "y'all haters corny with that Illuminati mess".

Illuminati during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Vice interviewed a self-proclaimed witch and asked her if she thought Beyoncé could be involved in witchcraft. Sarah Lyons said this felt to her like a "very old-school accusation" rooted in the placement of blame onto others like had happened in the witch trials of Europe. Lyons believes it is very likely Beyoncé had nothing to do with the accusations. Thompson's request for a restraining order was denied by the Los Angeles Superior Court after a hearing occurred with neither Thompson nor Beyoncé's representation attending.

I guess we will never know if Beyoncé is performing witchcraft or the reigning queen of the Illuminati but I think both this example and Stevie Nicks show that women with power and influence will continue to be accused of having access to higher powers and magic.

  1. I do not listen to Beyoncé's music, or know much about her, so I am amazed that someone chosen for a Superbowl halftime has been not accused of witchcraft but also that the accusation was heard in a judicial court. And I had no idea she and Jay Z are thought to be a part of the Illuminati. I had heard that Stevie Nicks had been accused, since as you mention she references crystals and candles and oftn dresses in long flowing black dresses. I love your concluding thought--that women of power and influence will always be liable to witchcraft accusations.
